Community Annotation

Manual curation of genomes is very time consuming, but improves the quality of genome annotations.  Most manual curations are done on a community level with multiple research groups participating and dividing up the work.

The Genome Sequence Annotation Server (GenSAS) allows for community curation of the published annotations using the integrated Web Apollo and JBrowse, but also allows users to run annotation tools that can be used in the annotation process.

We have created projects for both C. arietinum chromosome scaffolds and are hosting them in GenSAS for community annotation.  If you would like to participate, please request a GenSAS account and type "chickpea annotation" in the "Purpose" field.  Then please use the CSFL contact form and let us know your GenSAS user name and your desire to work on the chickpea annotation.  We will give you access to the GenSAS projects for these genomes.  

If you would like to coordinate the community annotation efforts, please let us know.  We are looking for members of the chickpea research community to set the annotation standards and monitor the community annotation.
